Sports Wagering Contributes $15.7 Million to the State During December ’25

(Baltimore) — Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $15,736,889 in contributions to the state during December, and has accounted for more than $78.6 million in state contributions through the first half of Fiscal Year 2026.

Sports bettors in Maryland wagered $636,272,774 during December and won back $555,666,810 in prizes. Sportsbook operators held 12.7% of the handle.

Retail sports wagering operators contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs. Mobile sports wagering operators contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund and 5% to the state’s General Fund. In December 2025, the combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $11,849,429, while an additional $3,887,460 in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund.

Through the first six months of Fiscal Year 2026 (July 2025 through December 2025), sports wagering contributions to the state have totaled $78,604,721, compared to $46,576,504 during the same six-month period last year.

The Canton Gaming retail sportsbooks located in Canton and Pikesville ceased operations on December 14. As of the end of December, Maryland had 11 retail sportsbook locations and 12 mobile sportsbooks operating.
