Anne Arundel County bingo hall preparing to launch sportsbook

(Baltimore) — The Sports Wagering Application Review Commission (SWARC) today awarded a sports wagering facility license to Bingo World. The Anne Arundel County venue is one of 17 entities that were designated in the sports wagering law to conduct retail sports wagering operations.

On Feb. 24, Bingo World and its operator partner, RSI MD, LLC, a subsidiary of Rush Street Interactive, were found qualified for sports wagering licenses by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC).

Bingo World became the ninth of the 17 entities named in the law to be awarded a sports wagering facility license. MGM National Harbor, Live! Casino, Horseshoe Casino, Hollywood Casino and Ocean Downs Casino began sports wagering operations in December 2021. Three off-track betting venues — Riverboat on the Potomac, Long Shot’s and Greenmount Station — have been found qualified and have been awarded licenses.

The three off-track betting sites and Bingo World are working closely with Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff to complete numerous procedural tasks that are required before they are permitted to launch. The last step in the process is a controlled demonstration, during which guests invited by the facilities will participate in live wagering under the observation of Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff. The four pending locations have not yet scheduled their controlled demonstrations.
