Sports Wagering Contributes $7.2 Million to the State During July ’25

(Baltimore) — Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $7,252,318 in contributions to the state during July 2025.

Sports bettors in Maryland wagered $364,075,296 during the month and won back $319,514,522 in prizes. Sportsbook operators held 12.2% of the handle.

Retail sports wagering operators pay 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs. Mobile sports wagering operators pay 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund and 5% to the state’s General Fund. For July 2025, the combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $5,471,453, while $1,780,865 in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund.

  • Retail: $863,542 (13.2%)
  • Mobile: $43,697,232 (12.2%)

Taxable Win (Amount remaining after deducting prizes, promotional wagers and other amounts)

  • Retail: $859,041
  • Mobile: $35,617,310
  • Combined: $36,476,351

Sports Wagering Tax (15% of Taxable Win for Retail; 20% of Taxable Win for Mobile)

Since the inception of Maryland’s sports wagering program in December 2021:

  • Cumulative contribution to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund: $182,848,185
  • Cumulative contribution to the General Fund: $1,780,865
  • Cumulative expired prizes contributed to the Problem Gambling Fund: $4,674,646
