Baltimore City sportsbook partners with Crab Services

(Baltimore) — The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) today authorized Canton Gaming’s The Greene Turtle location in the Canton section of Baltimore City to commence retail sports wagering operations with its new operator partner, Crab Services.

On June 9 and June 11, Canton Gaming and Crab Services successfully completed controlled demonstrations of their facility at The Greene Turtle, located at 3803 Boston Street. Customers participated in live wagering on those two dates as Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff ensured that the facility complied with all required procedures and that its systems functioned properly. The sportsbook was closed from June 4 through June 12 to facilitate the change in operators from betParx to Crab Services.

There are 12 retail sportsbook locations currently operating in Maryland along with 11 mobile sports wagering platforms. Through the first 11 months of Fiscal Year 2025 (July 2024 through May 2025), sports wagering contributed nearly $79.7 million to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, compared to $54.6 million for the same period in FY2024. The Blueprint Fund supports public education programs.

Expired sports wagering prizes during FY2025 have totaled an additional $1,055,304 paid to the Maryland Problem Gambling Fund, which supports responsible gambling programs, including no-cost counseling for Maryland residents. Maryland Lottery and Gaming reports sports wagering revenue figures on 10th of each month. The reports are available online at mdgaming.com.
